DK Jain, the BCCI's ethics officer, upheld the conflict of interest complaint against Mayank Parikh, on Tuesday (July 21), and asked him to relinquish ownership of clubs in Mumbai or resign from his position in BCCI.

As per the complaint, Parikh, who has served as a logistics and liaison manager with BCCI, also owns six cricket clubs in Mumbai. The complaint was made by Sanjeev Gupta - who recently resigned from MPCA following a complaint - on August 5, 2019.

"I am convinced that on the facts at hand, a case of conflict of interest as enshrined in the Rules is made out," DK Jain stated in the order accessed by Cricbuzz. "Accordingly, it will be open to the BCCI to grant an opportunity to Mr. Mayank Parikh to either himself resign from the post of the Manager, or to wind up all the Clubs in question forthwith or by taking any other steps, which shall ensure that the situation of conflict of interest is resolved to the satisfaction of the BCCI.

"On the failure of Mr. Mayank Parikh to take adequate steps in that regard, the BCCI may take appropriate action to ensure that this conflict of interest ceases to exist at the earliest."

The decision on the Mayank Parikh conflict of interest case was pending from Jain's previous tenure. His term had come to an end in February 2020 but had his contract renewed in early June.
