Brushing your teeth everyday is import to your dental hygiene. It helps cleaning your mouth and killing bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease if it is done correctly.
Here six common mistakes we do and how to fix it, check if you are a part of the majority !

1. Using the wrong toothbrush :
Try to avoid hard bristle brushes because it could damage the enamel of your teeth and the gum tissue. It is better to pick one with soft bristle with a size or a shape that fit for your mouth. It is also recommended to change your toothbrush each 3 months,  misshapen bristles are ineffective against plaque.

2. The techniques of brushing teeth:
Firstly the brushing should last 2 min ideally and not more than twice a day. If you brush to much your teeth you will probably weaken the enamel along with gum recession. When you are brushing your teeth, "gently move the brush back and forth in short (tooth-wide) strokes", according to the American Dental Association. Try to clean inner and outer surfaces and also the front teeth "tilt the brush vertically and make several up and down strokes".

3. Neglecting your tongue:
Brushing you tongue is also an important part of dental hygiene. Gently brush to remove all the bacteria that can lead to a bad breath and  cavities.

4. Not rinse the toothbrush after use:
It is important to clean the brush after using it (1 min under clear water) as it contains all the bacteria and food particles you had inside your mouth.  You also have to ensure that the toothbrush will dry properly because a wet brush is a fertile ground to germ.

5. Skipping the floss:
As the ADA says “Tooth decay-causing bacteria still linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.”

You should go to the dentist at least twice a year to examine your dental health to be sure that each tooth are healthy.
And of course, be careful  of your lifestyle, eat vegetables and avoid processed food, sugar, alcool and smoking to keep a perfect smile with white and healthy teeth !
