Your kid went to school, and started your problems? The baby hates math? Let me then share my perspective of how I faced this challenge of parenting.

I want to share my experience with other mummies. My 8-year-old son never liked mathematics even though I had tried hard to cultivate passion for the precise sciences inside him for the last 6 years. Of course, you might call it a Major statement, especially considering Andre's young age. Even so, I 'm sure the earlier you start, the better your child will understand the subject. From the very tender age of 2 I started teaching my son to count. For our counting, I used any handy materials such as apples, pencils, toys and even cups, when we were at home. And we were counting birds, trees and cars as we walked outside. I confess my son was fond of counting so-called actual things, anything he might see or touch. Indeed he enjoyed imaginative games of this kind. But the moment I opened a book or tried to clarify to him the simplest rules of adding or subtracting, the war would begin. He would nag and offer no reason for not sitting with me, telling me that he's bored or that he can't understand, etc.

I tried my best to introduce him to math, putting all my energy into it, but sad to say, it looked like a waste of my time and a total disappointment. All my hard work has brought absolutely NO benefit.

The time had come then for him to go to school. But even there for him the mathematics was the toughest and most hated subject in school. And we played teachers and learners at home to do his homework. I was a teacher, and my son, and my pupils were one of his toys he liked the most. Andre was pretty keen to play this game, and used to complete all his homework in no time, almost effortlessly. All, except for one-Math!

Obviously my main concern was mathematics-how could my son resolve his fear of this topic at school? Past one month. He will soon be introduced to the first mathematical principles according to his school programme. But Andre did not want to hear mathematics, the very word! Leave legislation alone! No matter what I did-Andre remained oblivious to mathematics and incredibly stubborn in his refusal not only to cooperate with me but also with teachers. He actually did not wish in his life to embrace mathematics.

I figured, there has to be some solution. I'm sure there's a lot of parents going through the very same battle. Let me carry out some research. Surely I'll find something useful that other people use to teach their kids, I have encouraged myself.

Needless to say, on the internet is the simplest and quickest study that can be carried out in the present time. They read many blogs, downloaded many storeys and even books. But which one to start with? How to pick the one out of so many?

The response came on its own: All children love photographs. Indeed, any child would be drawn by books with beautiful images, so an attractive cover of the book is a greater chance. Anything that's bright and funny, and important to the topic of math-that 's what I was looking for. Placing myself in my son's shoes, I started looking at the photos. Much of the tales were in plain word only. It instantly decreased the amount of literature I had to choose from. Then, looking at the drawings, I decided to pause at the Kind Mathematics book tales. Drawings were of numbers, often in humorous digit shapes. Last but not least, I was extremely fascinated by the title of the book: Kind Mathematics. Goodness, goodness-we all need that!

The first 3 storeys I successfully downloaded (and free!) from the website were printed out. Later that same day I showed Andre the pages when time came for our home school play. I also printed the pictures separately-especially to get him busy while reading.
