The legal protection of the customers has always been the priority in freight forwarding business. During the round table session of the TELS legal department there have been discussed several complicated issues. Among those issues there were the company’s insurance policies, cargo fastening procedure, Russian contractors’ legal position and road carrier activities.
The insurance discussion included extra financial protection, deal protection, cargo insurance and protection from loss, managing and insuring the financial risks, creditworthiness insurance. The cargo fastening was discussed in connection to the accepted cargo weight and dimensions s, the damage control for the fastening of the cargos and the proceedings connected to the inadequately fastened cargo, instructing the customers about the consequences of unqualified cargo fastening, etc. In connection to the Russian contractors’ legal position , the legal department of TELS discussed the issues of documentation and proving that this particular carrier has a legal status of the freight forwarder. The road carrier activities were discussed in reference to the contradictions in the legal practices of different countries and the contradictions between the customer’s terms and the carrier’s capabilities.
