‘Laser Therapist Training Program’ through Institute of Medical Aesthetics (IMA) is the only laser course based in Dubai recognized by both Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) for Medical Professionals, Registered Nurses and Beauty Therapists

[Dubai, UAE – June 2016] – Following stringent verification DHA recently approved the ‘Laser Therapist Training Program’ at ‘Institute of Medical Aesthetics’ (IMA) Dubai. It is the only course available in Dubai that meets all necessary training requirements for eligible healthcare specialists and beauty therapists to apply for a laser license.

The increasing demand and profitability of aesthetic laser procedures is driving more and more medical and non-medical practitioners (especially beauty therapists) to offer laser treatments, for which they may have never trained in medical or aesthetic school. Possessing a medical degree does not automatically qualify medical professionals to perform aesthetic treatments. To regulate the aesthetics industry and to ensure patient safety, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has implemented strict rules for the centers and also the medical or beauty professionals. In addition to the medical degree and professional license, to perform laser treatments they should also have ‘proof’ of education and training for laser and IPL machines through a DHA-approved training center.

Developed and taught by many of the leading experts in aesthetic medicine, IMA training courses have been recognized as the best in the industry. The ‘Laser Therapist Training Program’ is an inclusive program that is unrivaled in the areas of physics, insight about popular medical devices available in the market, safety, hazard assessment, practical clinical training and patient concern management.

The training curriculum of the 90-hours laser course was thoroughly reviewed to fulfill all stringent guidelines set by the DHA and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and includes a 48-hours online study module, 40-hours hands-on training in clinical set-up and 3-hours examination at the end of the course. The qualifying examination is conducted by NCLC, an internationally accepted third-party professional medical association recognized to provide verification of credentials and levels of knowledge in the various laser procedures, and meets the guidelines outlined by the regulatory authorities, allowing successful licensed participants to perform laser treatments in all areas in Dubai.

Servane Collette, Director at Institute of Medical Aesthetics (IMA) in Dubai adds, “For the past four years IMA has delivered accredited training that matches the highest international industry standards. We are the only specialized training institute in the region that conducts theoretical and hands-on training in clinical setting with actual patients which is very important to ensure that the doctors and practitioners get experience in treating real patient concerns.

To accommodate the growing needs of this fast-changing industry we regularly evaluate and update our course material to upgrade and add newer qualifications. The recent DHA approval of our laser training program is yet another indicator of the credibility and professional relevance of our academic portfolio. Also this may encourage other regions and countries to follow suit and implement similar guidelines.”

Comments from participants who have successfully completed the laser training course at IMA Dubai

“Technology is aesthetic medicine has progressed to a level that we can now treat most aesthetic skin conditions with lasers. These devices are an incredible tool for us as professionals and for the patients. But if the person operating these lasers is not educated and trained on these machines the outcome can be dangerous. I encourage all my colleagues, including dermatologists, to get properly trained at a certified institute so they can up their skill-set to optimize results and reduce side effects.” Dr Maha Aleidan, General Physician, KSA

“IMA Dubai helped me to get a better job. I was a facial therapist by profession and wanted to upgrade into laser technician. I took the accredited laser course and got certified. Now I am very confident in working with almost all laser machines both for hair removal and skin rejuvenation. Thanks to my IMA family, I finally made my dream come true to become a certified laser technician.” Maria Cristina Pelayo, Laser technician, Royal Aesthetica Polyclinic (Dubai)
