Sukamto Sia is proud to announce a substantial donation to the America Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Sukamto Sia, who has always loved animals, has donated $10,000 to the organization to help with the boarding and care of stray animals taken in by the society. Sukamto Sia has also donated to the ASPCA in the past and he has taken in cats and dogs in need of foster homes when the ASPCA could no longer hold them due to space concerns.

Sukamto Sia is a fervent animal lover. At home, Sukamto Sia’s family has three Siamese cats named Henry, Koshka, and Sally. “Our cats bring so much joy to our lives. By donating to the ASPCA, I am able to help other people experience that joy. Everyone should adopt their pets from a shelter situation,” said Sukamto Sia. “I am also setting a good example for my children, showing them that we should respect the lives of animals and give back to our community.”

By donating to the ASPCA, Sukamto Sia hopes to reduce the number of animals that are euthanized every year. “There are simply more animals than the ASPCA can handle. It’s a truly unfortunate situation. If I can help to expand the housing space available to the ASPCA, I view it as my moral responsibility to do so. I can’t stand by and let animals be killed when there are so many loving homes out there that could take them in,” said Sukamto Sia. The ASPCA does not endorse euthanasia and the New York Center does not euthanize animals except in rare circumstances, but in shelters across the country 3 to 4 million cats and dogs are euthanized each year. The New York City ASPCA only takes in as many animals as it can care for, and Sukamto Sia’s donation will increase that number.

The ASPCA lauded Sukamto Sia for his generous gift. Sukamto Sia has been volunteering with the ASPCA for many years now, even fostering pets when he was a poor graduate student. Sukamto Sia has built up a reputation for philanthropy since then, working with many cancer related charities in addition to his work with the ASPCA.
