On October 15, 2020, at 4:00 pm, the first Democracy and Human Rights Congress in the Americas 2020 will be broadcast live on Facebook, Zoom, GoToMeeting and Instagram. Organized by Alfredo Santamaría, political scientist and community leader together with Zarai Maza president and founder of the Guardians of Human Rights (GOHR ) Foundation.
The Latin American United Foundations, the OAS civil organization 79, United for Human Rights Florida and Youth for Human Rights Tampa will participate. Guests will include Dr. Jorge Porras Benedetti, an International Speaker with a PhD in Theology, Dr. Xavier Suarez, Miami Dade County Commissioner among the 8 speakers along with Ms Sandra Moreno, the President of Youth for Human Rights Tampa.
The reason for the Congress is to discuss the current democracy. Starting from the fact that democracy is a Human Right, number 21 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations. “Human Right # 21, The Right to Democracy. 1. Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives. 2. Everyone has the right to equal access to public service in his country. 3.
