After completing his military training, Steven Siejkowski became an Air Force Pilot. The journey that led him there started with his college studies. In order to become an Air Force pilot, he needed a bachelor’s degree. Those who have an additional degree in aviation can start out the process with an advantage, but such a degree is not mandatory.

After he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics, the next step was meeting the officer qualifications. Individuals who wish to become Air Force pilots, have to be United States citizens between the ages of 18 and 34. Only those who meet these requirements can pursue an Air Force Officer training. The next step for Steven Siejkowski was to successfully complete the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT). This aviation testing standard involves as many as 12 subtests.

Some of these included arithmetic, verbal analogies, the understanding of the flight instruments, as well as passing a physical exam. After the successful testing process, Steven Siejkowski started officer training school at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Once he passed the initial flight training he was commissioned as an officer and started his undergraduate pilot training (UPT) at the Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma.

In order for an officer to officially become an Air Force pilot, that is the last – rather large – step during the process. Throughout the UPT training, aspiring pilots learn more complex navigation tactics, aerobatics, and even how to fly in a formation which can come in handy during combat operations. In addition to all that, they spend a lot of time getting familiar with the instruments, learning how to rely on them during the most dangerous situations. After the initial phase of his undergraduate pilot studies were finished, Steven Siejkowski was put on a military airplane to complete his final test assignments.

These included different training scenarios based on the availability of military aircrafts. After successfully completing his multi-year military pilot training, he officially became a pilot of the United States Air Force.
