Houston, TX – Millie Loredo wrote the script for a 15-minute short horror film she decided to shoot in Utah. While she was there, she cast an actress that had short film experience by the name of Mary Etuk as a serial killer named Hersey.
Etuk has appeared in short films such as Spirit Squad: Crime-Fighting Cheerleaders and Steve from Accounting vs. the Shadow Dwellers. Loredo enjoyed Etuk’s work and cast her in her short film, which was then turned into a 90-page screenplay for a full-length feature horror film called Sorrow.
“Mary was one of the very best on set, she understood the role, and I gave her very little direction because she was killing it,” Loredo said. “I can definitely say that she is a method actor, which was great, because she was able to deliver and was always on point when I called ‘action.’”
Etuk said she drew inspiration from Juliette Lewis in the thriller Natural Born Killers. While her level of intensity was hard to reach, she said, she had a great time getting into the role of a serial killer.
Loredo is proud of Etuk and said she anticipates audiences will truly enjoy the character of Hersey. Audiences will get their chance to see Etuk’s acting skills when the film premieres at River Oaks Theatre in Houston, Texas and on Amazon Prime Tuesday, April 21. Hulu Network has also chosen to begin streaming the horror film mid-May.
Loredo and the cast of Sorrow will be at the Mad Monster Horror-Con in Charlotte, North Carolina from March 27-29 and will be selling tickets to a screening of the horror film at Atlanta, Georgia’s Plaza Theatre next month. The Plaza is the second stop of the screening tour in six cities in five different states.
