Houston, TX – Millie Loredo will make her directorial debut next month with indie horror film Sorrow, which will premiere at River Oaks Theatre in Houston, Texas as well as on Amazon Prime Tuesday, April 21.

Loredo first wrote Sorrow as a 15-minute short film, which was shot in Utah. The idea for the screenplay came from a nightmare Loredo awoke from suddenly.

“I woke up from a horrible nightmare, and I decided to pull out a sheet of paper and start writing the dream down,” she said. “Three pages later, I had the first draft of my treatment for a short horror film.”

Loredo is a self-identifying horror movie buff. She loves horror films and studied them during the process of turning Sorrow from a 15-minute short film into a full-length feature film.

Writing the screenplay came much easier to Loredo than directing, but she said she enjoyed directing more despite the constant obstacles.

“Directing was the most difficult, because you’re working with dozens of people and something always comes up,” she said. “Even so, I enjoyed directing the most. I love the feeling of being on set when everyone is doing their part to help you tell your story.”

Loredo is continuing to indulge her love of horror films by working on a screenplay for a supernatural thriller she plans to turn into another feature film. Until then, Loredo is hoping audiences will enjoy her debut with Sorrow. She and the cast will travel the country to screen the film in six cities in five different states following its release in Houston, Texas.
