Roofing and windows installers are extremely angry at major glass contractors in Western Washington, and for this reason they decided to take it to the streets on Friday. Some of their main grievances include issues with wages, sick leave as well as working hours in a new contract.
According to Fixmyhome, both parties are expected to resume their meetings come this Thursday with federal mediators in Seattle.
The installers, “they are not glazing doughnuts at all,” Michael Marley stated as he stood outside Goldfinch Brothers in downtown Everett earlier this week.
“When you see a building full of glass, we are responsible for that work,” he said. At places of construction, interior work usually can’t be completed until doors and windows are installed. Members of the windows and roofing installers Fredericksburg VA do not work for one contractor alone.

“We work from one building to another, depending on where we’re called, and where the work is,” Marley claimed. Goldfinch and other reputable contractors came together for contract. The contract covers approximately 700 members. Union members refused to sign two contract offers last month, including one suggested by the negotiators.

‘’The union has increased its demand for more paid sick leave and also agreed to extend working hours,’’ claimed Mara Vinnedge, a lawyer who represents the contractors. “We had a suggested a deal initially when we met with the union.” A union official assured Fixmyhome that he is hopeful the both sides can reach a deal in the course of the week.
