In concrete constructions, use of tough durable materials is necessary in order to make it long lasting. Refractories are one of those materials that gives the construct the strength that it needs to withstand very high temperature. That is the reason why they are used in building things like furnaces, kilns and even reactors that withstand heat all throughout. If they are made of normal concrete or cement, they might suffer cracks and breakage after a point of time as only the refractory materials can endure that high temperature. Another curious material that is used for construction purposes is vermiculite that expands with heat. A vermiculite board is used to build fireplaces and acoustic panels that are required to be heat resistant.

Classification
Based on their chemical composition, the process in which they were prepared and their uses, refractories are of different kinds as classified here. It is really interesting to note that refractory materials are made of binary compounds that can withstand a melting point of 3890 °C. The kinds are, acidic, basic and neutral. The acidic refractory materials are used in acidic environments. Even though acid stabilizes them, they are very easily destabilized by alkalis. The basic refractory is basic in nature that reacts to acidic substances. However, neutral refractories are those that are neither of them and do not react to either.

Production
There are many ways in which refractory materials are manufactured, depending upon the materials they are used for. The most common process is dry pressing and more often they are hand molded. Sometimes, some of them are cast fusing different materials. A Refractory is even formed chemically by bonding it with a dozen of chemical compounds. Then they are also shaped and cut in different sizes, making them suitable for use. Even a vermiculite board is cut out of the compounds so they are shaped like slabs and made to use in different forms.

Uses
You can use a vermiculite board for fireproofing different kinds of steels and pipes that either carry heated substances or exposed to high temperatures. They can also be used as a soil conditioner in loose vermiculite mineral forms. Refractories are used to build heat resistant fire bricks, furnaces and even masonry ovens in which very high temperature prevails. There is a whole of companies online that offer the goods for a small price. If you are a contractor or an industrialist who are looking for these goods for a reasonable price, then contact the online dealers.

Suppliers are aplenty online responding to the growing demand of the buyers. If you want to purchase the materials in bulk, then you can expect to get a discount from the online sellers. A whole lot of traders offer round-the-year discount for people who are buying them for industrial purposes. However, it is always important that you have read the buyers’ feedback before you make your mind. Choosing a source should be done carefully if you want to make a good investment.
