Communicate with your employees as best you can. Develop a system for communication, and make sure there is a direct line between you and all of your employees. This is especially important if you’re working on a major project. Modern technology makes communication extremely easy, and it will allow you to both ask and answer questions rapidly. Don’t substitute this mode of communication for face-to-face interactions, just add it.

Make yourself as approachable as possible. The more approachable you are as a manager, the more likely you’ll be to catch mistakes before they turn into major issues. If your employees feel comfortable coming to you with questions or concerns, you could eliminate some of the normal mistakes being made altogether. When an issue does arise, don’t pass the blame on anyone before it’s solved and people have learned as a result.

Don’t get caught up micromanaging every responsibility you delegate to your team; that’s why you have a team in the first place. Showing trust will also help your employees get more motivated to work their hardest; no one wants to work for a manager who has no trust in his employees.
