Recently, Raghib Zeitoun was promoted to be the Director of Perfusionist at Wesley Medical Center. Prior to this position, Raghib Zeitoun was a staff perfusionist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation since October 2010. Raghib Zeitoun began his medial career as a respiratory therapist after his graduation from the University of Toledo in 2000. Raghib Zeitoun is a medical expert who is highly sought after in his field.

Raghib Zeitoun has been working very hard to advance new technologies and techniques to make surgery safer for patients. We caught up with him recently and asked him about this new position. “I am very proud of this promotion, and I am looking forward to leading the team at Wesley Medical Center. Since my graduation from the Cleveland School of Perfusion in May of 2010, I have been working hard to set an example of excellence in the perfusion field. I am dedicated to keeping my patients safe during their surgery and hope to continue to lead the way in new technology to make surgery safer.”

As a perfusionist, Raghib Zeitoun is dedicated to keeping his patients safe during surgery. A perfusionist operates the heart-lung machine during a cardiac surgery. It is important that the heart be still while the surgeon is operating. Perfusionists, like Raghib Zeitoun, work with the cardiac surgeons to ensure that the patients' circulatory and respiratory systems continue to operate while the heart is not beating. Perfusionists also operate additional machines needed during surgery including filters, reservoirs, and an oxygenator machine, which provides oxygen to the blood as it is circulated.

As the Director of Perfusionist at Wesley Medical Center, Raghib Zeitoun will be responsible for overseeing all of the perfusionist staff and assigning each member to their surgical team. Raghib Zeitoun is a leader and an expert in the field and has been certified by the American Board of Cardiopulmonary since 2012. In addition to his certification with the American Board of Cardiopulmonary, Raghib Zeitoun is also licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Licensed Perfusionist. Raghib Zeitoun brings many years of experience to his new position as the Director of Perfusionist at Wesley Medical Center; and the community is looking forward to great things from him in the future.
