Jamie O'Bryan Celebrates Launch of New Online Presence

Local businesswoman, volunteer and mother Jamie O'Bryan has expanded her online presence.

Jamie O'Bryan loves to keep busy. In fact, she might not know the meaning of the word ‘relax’. Not content with being a successful full-time businesswoman at a multi million dollar farm, or having a long and successful career in the banking industry, or having brought up four children to adulthood, or even with her active life as a volunteer in the community and in her parish, Jamie O'Bryan has taken up a new hobby, launching an online presence that includes Facebook and Pinterest.

Facebook and Pinterest are Jamie O'Bryan’s websites of choice because they allow her to follow her interests as well as those of her friends and family. On Facebook Jamie O'Bryan can see how her family members’ vacation went through their status updates and pictures; on Pinterest she can see what interesting recipes and other items her friends are finding on the web. For Jamie O'Bryan these websites are more than just passive social networking, however. She also uses the sites to post about her own life and her own interests, hoping that others will find them useful, insightful, entertaining, or informative.

“For me, the best thing about Facebook and Pinterest is the freedom,” says Jamie O'Bryan. “I can start on a friend’s home page and a few clicks later end up somewhere completely out in left field. It’s kind of like going exploring, sometimes,” she laughs. “Maybe it’s not the most exciting way to go exploring, but it’s not bad, either.”

Jamie O'Bryan uses Facebook to keep in touch with her friends from her various walks of life, including professional friends from former jobs in the banking industry, friends from parishes where she has previously lived and volunteered, and friends from her various volunteering stints outside the church. “Everyone is connected on Facebook, in this interesting way,” Jamie O'Bryan says. “You find out that two people you know from two separate worlds know each other somehow, and it makes the world seem smaller – more intimate, friendlier. It’s a good feeling.”

Jamie O'Bryan has no plans to further expand her web presence yet, content with her Facebook and Pinterest pages, but don’t be surprised to see a Jamie O'Bryan blog in the future.
