In kick boxing circles, Muay Thai is known as “King of the Ring”. Fighters are allowed to use punches, kicks, knees, elbows, standing grappling and head-butts to wear down or take out their opponent.

Thai training methods are known for their deadly power, cardio-vascular endurance and extreme speed. Muay Thai training is kept safe in between fights with the aid of sophisticated pad training. Now this sport has taken up quite a following outside of the ring and is being embraced by practitioners for a variety of reasons including self-defense, military, sport, and law enforcement activities. For those not looking to fight professionally, Thai boxing can provide a great workout.

Many schools are appearing here in the United States that train individuals in Muay Thai fighting. Tomas Rekem received his training from a school called Training Ground Thai Boxing Academy. The school has many locations in both the United States and in Canada. The school offers classes for beginners, intermediate fighters and those who are competing. It has fast become a training ground for the world’s most elite and dominant athletes. Training Ground Thai Boxing has gained a reputation as being a premier destination for Muay Thai, MMA and fitness training.

Besides enjoying his Thai boxing training and competition, Tomas Rekem enjoys playing soccer and hockey. He grew up in Slovakia, where he played soccer throughout his youth. Also, due to the areas cold climate, hockey was a very prominent sport. Then when he was 13 years of age his family decided to move to Canada. He continued to stay very involved in both soccer and hockey and credits these sports with his athletic capabilities and team spirit. The one thing the he feels sports can offer everyone is the ability to be self-disciplined. He recommends that more people get involved in sports.
