Meir Panim is a not for profit organization that is truly dedicated to providing support to the ever growing impoverished population of Israel.

According to the most recent statistics provided by Israel’s National Insurance Institute, 1,658,200 people are living below the poverty line. Of these 1,658,200 people, a staggering 756,900 are children who are unable to provide for themselves a better life. One out of every three Israeli children is suffering from hunger, one out of every four people is living in poverty overall, and one out of every five elderly citizens is in need of immediate medical assistance.

In order to help lower these numbers and better provide for the country as a whole, the organization known as Meir Panim has designed a number of programs geared toward providing both immediate and long lasting relief to the impoverished population throughout the country. They offer programs such as Free Restaurants, Meals on Wheels, Meals for Children, Employment Horizons, Food Shopping Cards, and After School Youth Programs. They are dedicated to not only offering the immediate relief that many of these people need, but providing them with the abilities necessary to once again become functioning members of Israeli society.

The organization also provides vocational programs to all capable individuals looking to re-enter the workforce. All the vocational training programs include empowerment courses so that individuals recognize their ability to support themselves and boost their overall self-esteem. Meir Panim also targets women who have never been employed or educated so that they can have the opportunity to help provide for themselves and their families.

Meir Panim is dedicated to providing much needed relief to every citizen of Israel suffering from the effects of poverty. Children and the elderly are most at risk for the detrimental effects of poverty, and many of the organization’s programs are geared toward these two demographics specifically.

One program designed by Meir Panim to help the elderly is called Meals on Wheels. Many of the elderly suffering from poverty are unable to leave their homes or beds in order to provide for themselves the necessary nourishment they so desperately need. Meals on Wheels delivers this much needed nourishment directly to their homes. Each day, the organization is responsible for 700 packaged meals to individuals in need. Meals are delivered by caring volunteers who ensure the overall health and safety of the individual as well.
