A good example of marketing campaigns is the MP3 Player. It was a revolutionary idea to be able to have hundreds of songs on one portable device. No need for CDs that get scratches and ruin tracks. Hundreds of thousands of people wanted one, and many bought one. Then one day, a few years after MP3 Players had hit their peak and started declining, a company called Apple released a product they called the iPod. The iPod was a status symbol. It was a fair chunk of change, but it could store hundreds of songs and was extremely portable. You could take it to the gym or school or work and use it whenever you needed some music in your life. It synced up with iTunes, which is a store Apple set up to have a library of music on, and everything fit together perfectly. The fact that you could get a cheaper, more powerful MP3 player with twice as much storage space for half the price never mattered. The iPod sold tens of millions of units.

A good marketing campaign is about giving potential consumers more than what your product or service will actually give them. It is about extending the usefulness of something and making it a symbol. Apple set themselves up as the symbol of status and success. They market simplicity and perfection for only a little more expense than their competitors in all of their products. Joshua Dale Olson has used marketing campaigns since he began as a multi-level marketer, and has made millions of dollars branding himself and his products in ways that grant customers and co-workers a sense of purpose before the products.
