There are numerous non-profit organizations that support causes locally, nationally, and internationally. Joelle Wyser-Pratte is particularly drawn to non-profits benefiting children who live in impoverished communities that lack access to education. Many of the educational programs she supports are focused internationally; Joelle Wyser-Pratte supports the Mariposa Foundation that focuses on assisting young women in the Dominican Republic.

Through her business, Joelle Wyser-Pratte made a large donation to the Mariposa Foundation. “The foundation is a private foundation that supports education related causes” says Joelle Wyser-Pratte. The money donated through Mariposa Foundation is focused in the Dominican Republic and benefits lots of young women throughout the community.

“I support the Mariposa Foundation because the goal is to transform communities. The organization focuses inspiring achievement by helping provide clean and safe places in which to learn, play and be empowered as a girl,” says Joelle Wyser-Pratte. So many societies are still fatalistic believing they have no control over their destinies. Programs that can change this social impediment through empowerment are crucial.

In 2013, Joelle Wyser-Pratte was eager to take a more active role in the organization. “I will be joining the Mariposa Advisory Board and look forward to participating and contributing,” says Joelle Wyser-Pratte. This year we will add a room to the facility in my son Ogden’s name, it is vital for boys to be included in the process.

Joelle Wyser-Pratte’s past involvement is already recognized within the foundation. Through her broker dealer company Ounavarra Capital, Joelle Wyser-Pratte donated money to open a classroom inside the foundation’s newest complex. “The Mariposa Foundation built a new complex and I already donated to open one classroom in her daughter Louisa’s name. I have pledged in future to open two additional classrooms in each of my sons,” says Joelle Wyser-Pratte over the next two years.

Joelle Wyser-Pratte is already deeply committed to the work of the Mariposa Foundation. She is a strong support of education-focused organizations and supports many other education initiatives in addition to Mariposa.

Joelle Wyser-Pratte is confident in her abilities to serve the Mariposa Foundation. She is already experienced in leadership positions as the co-chair of the Educate Girls Globally organization. While the organizations' goals are different in purpose, there are many commonalities including education as tools for reform and social growth. “I am proud to have a position within both organizations. I am committed to giving my best to the Mariposa Foundation and will work hard to support the foundation’s goals and mission,” says Joelle Wyser-Pratte.
