Dr. Tae Yun Kim has struggled over the course of her life to battle through the barriers of antiquated cultural ideology and unequal practices in the business community. A native South Korean, Dr. Tae Yun Kim saw how the idea of “proper” behavior was used to keep women from gaining any sort of upward momentum. Her desire as a child to pursue Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art, is just one example of how societal misperceptions can lead to gross inequalities and injustice for women.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim grew up in a culture of oppression that never allowed women to receive any type of martial arts training or instruction. This oppressive atmosphere only proved, however, to strengthen Dr. Tae Yun Kim’s resolve, and today she can truthfully and proudly claim her place as the first female Great Grand Master of Tae Kwon Do.

She has broken through multiple barriers in the professional business and skilled martial arts communities. Today Dr. Tae Yun Kim is a responsible business owner and a valuable business leader. She is CEO of high tech firm Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions and Master Instructor of the Jung Suwon Martial Art Academy, an academy designed to give people professional martial arts instruction.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim’s life is based on positivity. Optimism is the belief that good things can and will happen. Dr. Tae Yun Kim is optimistic, hard-working and dedicated to a positive attitude.
