Alexis Dominguez and the Rise of Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Alexis Dominguez is an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician who is specially training in performing minimally invasive surgery and the Da Vinci Robotics System.

Alexis Dominguez is a board-certified Obstetrics Gynecology physician working at the offices of Cardella Obstetrics, Gynecology and Urogynecology in his home area of Miami, Florida. A very well-educated and experienced physician, Dominguez is also associated with the University of Miami School of Medicine, South Miami Hospital, and the Mercy Hospital. Dominguez enjoys serving the area that he grew up in.

Alexis Dominguez has received a special type of training that is becoming more commonplace in medical facilities. Dominguez’s training is in minimally invasive surgeries and the Da Vinci Robotics System. The surgeries are, as the title implies, minimally invasive to the bodies of the patient; traditional surgeries make large lacerations to the body and then the surgery is performed. In the surgeries, Dominguez is able to create a tiny incision and perform the surgery. This type of surgery is beneficial to the patient because they are left with minimal scarring, and they usually have a reduced time of recovery.

The Da Vinci Robotic System is a new system that is very much on the rise in the medical, surgical field. The robotic system expands the surgeon’s capabilities; the state of the art technology enhances he opportunity to have a successful minimally invasive surgery for the patient. Commonly used with hysterectomies, a procedure that removes the uterus from the patients, the surgical procedure can be recovered from in a mere four to six weeks compared to the normal time.

Alexis Dominguez believes the robotic system is a huge step forward, “With the advent of robotic surgery and not just robotic, but minimally invasive surgery as a whole, I think in our specialty we are offering the patient a less invasive form o obtaining procedures that are commonly performed now, with if not better, equal results to what the standard of care is, with added benefits, such as less pain and fewer days in the hospital”

Though some patients are skeptical of the robotic surgery because, it seems that the surgeon is no longer in control of the procedure. This could not be further from the truth. Alexis Dominguez says that when he is using the Da Vinci Robotic System he is in complete control of the surgery, just as he would be in any other.
