Mayer Flaks Encourages Voters To Monitor Politics

Politics continue to drive the nation all year. Mayer Flaks encourages voters to pay attention to Capitol Hill in non-election years and research candidates’ political campaigns.

Politics are the driving force behind everything that does or doesn't get done in Washington D.C. The political environment easily changes year to year, month by month, and day by day driven by social pressures or events. As a nation, we are not as isolated as we'd like to think and what occurs internationally has repercussions even to our nation.

Mayer Flaks wants people to understand that politics is important whether or not they regularly pay attention to Capitol Hill. Even what seems like a small change to a congressman can have deep implications for the nation. "People need to realize who they elect really does have an effect on their lives. They need to know who their political representative is and what they stand for," says Mayer Flaks.

Mayer Flaks pays attention to politics all year long. Some voters only pay attention to politics around election year but Mayer Flaks explains this is a dangerous thing to do, "if you don't pay attention to the politicians you won't know what they really stand for. If a congressman says he believes in breaking up monopolies but then votes to protect them you'll know not to trust that candidate again."

Mayer Flaks wants people to pay close attention to election year too. "The candidates will say things about themselves and about the other candidates that may not always be true. Even if it is the truth, it may be contorted to fit their agenda," says Mayer Flaks. He encourages everyone to do their research behind each candidate before showing them complete support or donating to their campaign.

"A candidates' political platform should be available online to view. Every voter needs to read what the candidate supports even if it is a long read," says Mayer Flaks. He is a strong advocate for informed voting. The uninformed voters are the ones that scare him; when they vote for candidates or on issues they have no information on, they threaten the direction of the nation.

About: Mayer Flaks believes voters need to keep themselves informed about political issues and candidates all year of every year.
