Everyone loves a puppy, and you may be considering bringing a tiny ball of fur into your life, but keep in mind, puppies require the greatest amount of patience, training and attention, especially over the first six months. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of your time to housebreaking and raising your new puppy. It is inevitable that your new puppy is going to have plenty of accidents in the house and there is a good chance that it will try to will chew your furniture, shoes and personal belongings. These behavioural challenges will eventually stop with dedicated dog training, puppy training or private dog training, but you must be prepared to be patient and understanding until your pup learns the rules. There is also a good chance that your puppy might grow up to be a completely different dog than what you had expected, especially if you get a mixed-breed dog. Your pups colours can change and its size may not be what you expected, this is not a bad thing, but it is something you should be aware of when selecting a dog with an unknown pedigree.

Deciding to adopt a full grown adult dog is an excellent choice for some people. For instance, an adult dog might be the perfect choice if you want to know the true appearance, energy level, attitude, and temperament of your new dog. It is important to remember that just because your new dog is an adult does not mean that he has been through dog training classes or dog obedience training, so you should be prepared to spend some time and money to attend dog obedience school, private dog training, dog training courses, K9 distraction training or some other form of dedicated training. On the other hand, many adult dogs have been properly trained and socialized to some extent and will readily adjust to their new life in their forever homes, they are good-to-go and ready to be your Perfect Dog For Life!
You may want to give serious consideration to adopting a senior dog! Older dogs make wonderful companions, especially if you are looking for a lower energy dog. When considering providing a safe and loving home for a senior you must be aware that senior dogs, like senior citizens, need special attention, more frequent trips to the veterinarian and are more likely to develop health issues that will cost you time and money. Senior dogs can be a lot easier to manage on a day to basis. When a dog gets older it prefers to stick to a regular schedule and really enjoys just spending time with the people it loves. Senior dogs also don’t require as much activity so they are great for people who lead a less active lifestyle. Providing a forever home to a senior dog is one of the most compassionate things you can do for these precious creatures, a senior dog may just be your Perfect Dog For Life.
