The Government of India has launched the Indian Service Exports Scheme (SEIS) under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP)-2015-20, replacing the earlier Foreign Trade Policy scheme’ Served from India Program,’ 2009-15. The main purpose of the scheme is to make our services price-wise competitive globally. Under SEIS, notified service providers are incentivized at a rate of 3 or 5 percent on their net foreign exchange earnings in the form of duty credit scrips. Such SEIS scripts are transferable and can also be used to pay a variety of central customs duties/taxes like specific customs duties. The SEIS incentives are available for export of services rendered on or after 01.04.2015, i.e. the Foreign Trade Policy notification date 2015-20.
Registration with Service export Promotion Council
Whether you are a manufacturer or a service provider, in your main line of business, RCMC (Registration Cum Membership Certificate) from the relevant export promotion council is mandatory. Pursuant to Public Notice No. 26/2015-2020 of 01.08.2018 released by Foreign Trade Directorate-General, Department of Commerce to add a group “Others” to the list of 14 SEPC service sectors. Now all the services are protected by SEPC along with 14 service sectors listed specifically earlier. So if you are a service provider and want to take advantage of SEIS benefits, then SEPC RCMC is mandatory.
