Dr. Antoine Roussety is a well known franchising expert with comprehensive knowledge and years of experience in the sector. He described various theories and models in terms of franchising. Now, he talks about the importance of good faith in the context of franchising. According to him, “God faith is a nebulous concept, but one that will obviously affect the way franchise contracts are written and parties behave at the pre contract, during contract and post contact stages.”
Dr. Antoine Roussety thinks that franchise relationships are unique and Government intervention in the franchising sector means that franchisors and franchisees can no longer deal with each other free of restrictions, when entering and serving out a franchise arrangement. He also believes that ‘good faith” means a commercial understanding of that relationship and the implementation of an approach that is created, built and sustained on the risks of doing or not doing what is required to safeguard ‘co-dependency and reciprocity’. That said, it is not an easy thing to do for most and will vary from system to system, culture to culture and industry to industry.
