In 1963, Suhel Seth was born in Calcutta. His father was a wealthy man and owned a chemical factory. It was later closed due to various issues. Coming from a privileged background, he received a quality education. He studied at one of the renowned schools of Calcutta, La Martiniere, and moved to Nainital to pursue his higher education at St Joseph's College. Soon, he came back to Calcutta and pursued the Bachelor of Arts (English Honors) and Master of Arts (International Relations) degrees from Jadavpur University. He also attended the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School.

Career

Seth, along with his brother, founded an advertising agency in 1996 called Equus. Along with Shunu Sen, he founded Quadra Advisory later. In 2002, he started a consultancy firm, Counselage India. He still holds the position of a managing partner there. He was appointed to the global Advisory Board of the San Francisco-based blogging platform LiveJournal Inc. in 2008. He has worked with some of the biggest conglomerate groups like the Tata Group in 2016 and the Adani Group in 2018. His talents and skills made him a renowned personality in the advertising agency.

Seth’s vast knowledge and powerful insights about different matters have earned him the recognition of a keynote speaker. He has been invited to speak about social and commercial trends on several occasions. Many Indian Institute of Management (IIM) colleges invited him to various business, advertising, and marketing events.

Seth has always been known for his forthright views and outspoken nature. He is a columnist in many publication houses like the Financial Times, Hindustan Times, The Telegraph, and the Indian Express.

Books

Suhel Seth has authored four books. ‘In Your Face’ is his first book that features a compilation of all his columns and interviews published in various dailies. He later authored ‘Get to the Top’, one of the best-sellers. The book was published in 2011 and is the perfect guide for aspirational Indians to climb the ladder of success. Read it if you want to know how to make a living by connecting with the rich and famous. ‘Kalighat to Calcutta’ is one of his finest creations, which he co-authored with Khushwant Singh and R. K. Laxman. ‘The Target’, co-authored with Shantanu Guha Ray, explains Jignesh Shah’s fall and exposes the nexus behind it.

Seth is known to many as an actor. He has acted in many Bollywood movies. His small role in the critically acclaimed movie 'Ek Din Achanak' in 1989 was noticed by many. He played a role in the movie Rog when his friend requested. In the famous movie ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, Seth played the role of the father of one of the female leads. His role in the movie ‘Guzaarish’ was acclaimed by many as well. His last movie was ‘Calendar Girls’ where he played a character inspired by the lifestyle of Vijay Mallya. Currently, he is inducted on the international board of Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA).
