Shinzen Karate, a Japanese Karate style that emphasizes powerful leg kicks and rapid punch combinations, is opening its weekly classes in Stoner Recreation Center in Los Angeles. The classes will feature conditioning, striking lessons, defense maneuvers, light sparring, and self-defense techniques. The Head Instructor said "Shinzen Karate is a style that emphasizes the traditional philosophy of kara-te with the physical techniques required by kara-te for defense. With crime rates currently rising due to the current economic situation, individuals are more interested than ever in protecting themselves and their loved ones." The karate classes are slated to be for Tuesdays and Thursdays, on a weekly basis. The tuition for the classes will be donation only at $10 per class per student.
