He is quite curious to know whether there is any life on Mars or not. According to him, Mars is more like Earth than anywhere else in the solar system. Thus, it is a good place to look for life. Still, it is different from Earth in many ways. Where Earth acts like a giant magnet and turns away the dangerous small piece of space radiation, Mars does not act this way. It does not have a magnetic field and has a lot less air covering it than Earth. Consequently, it gets more harmful space radiation. Moreover, it is so cold there that most of the water is probably not liquid. Thus, Mars would be a pretty tough place to try to live.

Harry Coumnas further states that there may not be life on Mars, it would still be exciting to know if there used to be any life on Mars.
