This press release is about John Hafner, who is a cinematographer. He has been the director of photography in many short films, commercials, documentaries, feature films and music videos.

Making films is an art and one must have a full understanding of the medium if you wish to put forth a product that will be liked by the niche club as well as the masses. Everything must be perfect- the sound, dialogues, music, acting, actors, framing, interaction of characters, lighting, props etc. One of the major role played in making a visual product beautiful is played by the Director of Photography or the cinematographer. The way he shoots the entire footage can make an ordinary film look beautiful. And film is a visual medium after all.

John Hafner, is one of the most promising cinematographers in today’s time. Working in the industry for the past ten years, he is already being hailed as the man with a creative eye behind the camera. With a degree from UT Austin in Radio, Television, Film Program, he knows his basics well and knows when to twist things at right time to create a beautiful visual experience for the viewers. He is an expert in using various cameras like Arri Alexa, Canon 5d/7d, Sony F3-F5, and also proficient with editing software like FCP, Adobe premiere Pro, After effects etc. He can also handle camera equipment like steadicam, jib, and motorized remote head. He is also a pro at creating great lighting patterns, be it creating a night scene in a studio or using the outdoor light resourcefully.

He has worked on award winning documentaries like Yoga Music Union, Lovefinder etc. He has also worked on tv shows like Heavy Metal Nanny, Jordan Carey Live. His feature films Pirate Jenny, April Rain have also been noteworthy. He has also worked on various commercials and short films. However his specialization is being a music video cinematographer. Shooting a music video is more difficult than a film because the dancers are always moving too much and hence the lighting should be done to cover the entire area. Also the cinematographer’s camera flow should be so smooth and fluid that the viewers don’t see any jerks. Moreover the footage needs to be shot and edited according to the beat. A fast beat music should have a fast moving camera, because a slow camera movement will kill the mood ot the music. Music videos like El Diablo, Young Volcanoes, Preso, and Beautiful only prove what a brilliant cinematographer John Hafner is.
