To be successful in the marketing field, according to Service Canada, it is recommended that “sales and marketing managers [obtain a] university degree or college diploma in business administration or a related field, with a minor in sales or marketing.” Centennial College satisfies these requirements with its marketing training called Business Administration – Marketing.
As an advanced diploma offering, it is completed in three years and readies students for a wide range of positions. Among the positions are: marketing coordinator, marketing analyst, promotions assistant, sales representative, assistant brand manager, public relations assistant, and advertising assistant.
Students are prepared for such diverse opportunities through a combination of business and marketing courses that include interactive elements. These practical aspects are essential for giving students the experience they need to become confident and comfortable in the tasks that they will perform in their various post-graduation roles. Facilitated by experienced faculty members, courses use case studies, guest lectures, presentations, projects, and computer simulations and technologies. Centennial College also offers a real-world experience through an industry project. Students work in teams on a project that is sponsored by an entrepreneurial endeavour, small business or major company.
The business portion of the business marketing program covers foundational business topics such as mathematics of finance, business operations, business communications and international business concepts. Meanwhile, marketing is more specific, with coverage of marketing research, marketing communications (which includes advertising and promotion), interactive marketing (which includes direct marketing, e-marketing and customer relationship management) and brand planning.
