The story behind the Fadal company began in 1955 when Francis de Caussin, a toolmaker trained in the automotive industry, decided to start his own machine shop. He purchased some equipment on time payments and his two young sons, Larry and Dave, started to work at the garage operation part-time. They learned a basic but important lesson in those early shop years — the faster they could remove metal, the more money they would make.

This basic philosophy drove the family business to success. Over the decades, the brothers expanded the facility and grew their customer base to include manufacturers of gyroscopes for aircraft landing gear, space shuttle fuel systems, and more. Their success caught the attention of Giddings & Lewis, which bought the company in 1995.

During the buyout, the new owners agreed to continue with the same business practices that had made the de Caussin brothers successful. They continued to improve the quality of their products, making them more powerful and more user-friendly than ever before. This commitment to innovation and excellence led the brothers to become the leaders of their industry, which they still are today.

This refurbished Fadal 3016 CNC had the original DC servo drives replaced with new AC brushless servos. The servos communicate with the Centroid M400 via fiber optic cable which provides more speed, power and accuracy. The original operator console sheet metal cabinet was reworked to house the new controls. X, Y, and Z AC brushless servo drives are mounted at the top of the cabinet and I/O terminal blocks for limit switches, ATC sensors, flood, mist, and lube control connections are located on the right side of the cabinet.
