Langtang Region
The Langtang region is a highland inhabited by Sherpas and Tamangs. It is predominately Buddhist territory abounding with prayer flags and memorial chortens, Buddhist temples shrines, to mark every pass and sacred place. Trekking in Langtang takes you over the Ganja-La pass with snowy peaks to the north and the green hills to the south.
Go direct to Langtang, or trek by way of Helambu, where the local Sherpas are friendly and women are renowned for their beauty. Pause to explore the shores of the holy lake Gosainkund, sacred to Lord Shiva, from which legend says a channel, carries water to the tank at Kumbeshwar Temple in Patan, sixty kilometers to the south.
