It’s important that you talk to your doctor about what you can and can’t do at home when it comes to working out.

It’s still important for seniors to incorporate exercise and fitness activities into their routine even during the lockdown. Even if you can’t go out to have a walk, you can still try doing some exercises in the comfort of your own home. This should be a part of proper home health care in Vancouver to help seniors prevent their health from declining. Exercise as a part of home health care in Vancouver also helps improve the immune system, which can help seniors fight viruses.

When it comes to exercises for seniors for home health care in Vancouver, here are some of the things that can be done at home:

1. Sitting and stepping

The sitting and stepping exercise is very simple. You will just need a comfortable chair to sit on. Sit on it and make sure both your feet are firmly planted on the ground. Lift your right leg and your left hand in front of you as if you are walking. It’s like you are walking but you are sitting down. Do a minimum of 20 steps at a time.

2. Hip raise technique

While using the same chair, try inclining your body on one side, making sure that you raise your hip on the other side. Raise your entire leg as well in the direction of the inclined body. Switch to the other side. Repeat these steps for 20 counts at a time.

3. Chair lean back

Sit on the edge of the chair. Slowly lean back with your hands clasped around your stomach to provide support. Feel your stomach muscles tighten as you lean back. Spread your arms in front of you and go back to your original position. Do this for a minimum of 10 counts.

4. Chair sit down

Stand up with the chair behind you. Cross your arms over your chest with your palms spread open. Slowly sit back on the chair. Spread your arms in front of you and lean forward to stand up. Repeat the steps for a minimum of 10 counts.

It’s important that you talk to your doctor about what you can and can’t do at home when it comes to working out. You don’t want to do too much and end up inflicting injury to yourself.
