Having had the opportunity to make a difference by volunteering in her own community, Gloria Sue Sutton highly encourages everyone to get involved in donating time to causes they support.

Gloria Sue Sutton is pleased to add her voice to the effort to encourage Houston community members to get involved in volunteering. As a long-time volunteer for many different organizations, Gloria Sue Sutton has seen how rewarding it can be to donate time and help those in need, as well as how it is possible to make a huge change in an individual’s life simply by lending a helping hand.

“Volunteering has been an incredibly enriching experience for me,” remarked Gloria Sue Sutton, who is a resident of Houston, Texas. “I’ve always deeply believed that community service is an important part of being a good citizen, but it’s incredible to see how much of a difference that you, personally, can make, just by offering up a few hours of your time. I’ve learned so much about myself and others by volunteering, too.”

Gloria Sue Sutton has supported a number of causes in the Houston area by giving freely of her time. Organizations that Gloria Sue Sutton has worked with include The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, which provides support for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and the Texas Children’s Hospital. Gloria Sue Sutton also supports the Ronald McDonald House, and has worked extensively with the Houston Junior Woman’s Club to provide support to countless local charities and organizations.

“While it can seem hard, at first, to fit volunteering into a busy schedule and the demands of work and family, it quickly becomes something that you look forward to,” commented Gloria Sue Sutton. “It’s also a great way to bring a family, a group of colleagues, or a group of friends together. Volunteering as a group is a fun way to spend a weekend and provides a way to bond over the joy of helping others.”

Gloria Sue Sutton recommends that anyone looking for volunteer opportunities contact the organizations with whom they would like to work, or check out a website like Idealist.com. While volunteer opportunities may not always be posted, most organizations are always happy to have anyone who can bring a positive attitude to the table, and positions generally seek a wide range of skill sets and ability levels.
