According to a latest PayPal study, freelancers in today’s time can earn up to an average of₹20 lakh per annum. PayPal study has revealed that there has been a great demand for freelance jobs, and freelancers in our country are witnessing significant growth in income in recent time.
The freelancing job market in India
In India, the concept of gig economy and freelancing jobs is slowly pacing up. Most young and senior professionals are accepting work-from-home or flexible work options for a better work-life balance. Especially for the women community, this trend is a positive sign when more and more women get themselves occupied in part-time jobs. Studies have shown that the size of the Indian “freelancers” market is significantly growing, and soon it will be a 20-30 billion dollar market by 2025.

More men than women professionals
Freelancing or part-time jobs are perfect for women professionals. Yet, the number of women freelancers is comparatively lesser than men. Among the 15 million freelancers of our country, 78% are men. Most women professionals give up their prospective careers midway due to motherhood and various family obligations. So, at present, India still is facing that gender-gap at the workforce.
