Dion Abadi gets so much joy from donating a wonderful piece of artwork to one of his favorite community centers.

When he is not working the auction circuit, buried in paperwork or spending time with his family, Dion Abadi is thinking about how to give back to the community. One such organization that is near and dear to Dion Abadi’s heart is the Jewish Family & Career Services center headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. This organization provides services for the elderly, career services, counseling, and services for people with disabilities. Their services are available to all members of the community, not just for those who are Jewish. Dion Abadi respects this organization and has spent time volunteering for them in the past.

Dion Abadi was not looking to make an art donation to the Jewish Family & Career Services center, but sometimes art just comes upon you. “When I recently acquired this particular piece, I told my assistant to put it aside. I just had a feeling that I had to do something special with it – other than try to auction it off. This rarely happens to me but when it does, I stop and pay attention,” said Dion Abadi. Later, he stopped by the center’s offices, and realized that the artwork he had set aside was the perfect piece for their office lobby.

The next time Dion Abadi visited the office, he had the huge gift wrapped in brown paper. He asked to meet with the director and said it was very important. Dion Abadi delights in surprising people and gets such a charge from being able to give. “What Dion Abadi gave us that day was an amazing piece of artwork, and I was completely shocked when he said it was for us to keep and display. The piece brought such beauty to the office and completed the harmonious atmosphere we are always striving for – both for our staff and clients,” the director of the Jewish Family & Career Services center said. Dion Abadi was so happy to share with them, especially when he knew how much the piece meant to them. When he told the director how much the artwork was worth, she nearly fainted, and promised to protect it with her life!
