Memorizing the Holy Quran is a great reward, however, the only way to reap the rewards out of memorizing it is by understanding the ideas, advices, stories, and lessons Quran carries.

People are of the notion that one has to have an extraordinary memory and capability to be able to master The Holy Quran, which isn’t true at all. This is one of the leading reasons behind people backing off from going ahead to learn Quran. Another belief is one must be very good in Arabic to be able to memorize and understand Quran. Well, all these are absolutely false.

Memorizing the Holy Quran is a great reward, however, the only way to reap the rewards out of memorizing it is by understanding the ideas, advices, stories, and lessons Quran carries. In addition for Muslims to understand all the instructions chosen by God to learn Quran, each and every word listed in it must as well be comprehended and put to use in their everyday lives.

Unfortunately, Muslims are more inclined towards memorizing the Holy Book without understanding it, which largely can be attributed to the Holy Scripture being in its original Arabic language, as it had been revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) more than 1,400 years ago, which many find difficult due to the complexity of the Arabic language. This makes Muslims prioritise the reading and memorization aspect of the holy book without understanding what the book is saying, let alone practising it. All these leads for different viewpoints on a single issue, as people don’t really understand the Quran through proper means so, they form opinions based on their own understanding leading to an array of viewpoints. The key is to adhere to the teachings of Quran and to understand the meaning behind Arabic language first, followed by memorizing those teaching to become a guiding light for other people by quoting proper verses.
