Indian Premier League 2019 which will be the twelfth edition of the IPL will now be held in India from March 23. Earlier, as per the reports, it is said that the Twenty20 cricket league may be held outside India in South Africa or the United Arab Emirates due to the general elections in India.

IPL earlier in 2009 and 2014 has been hosted outside India because of general elections. In 2009, IPL was hosted in South Africa and in 2014 IPL was hosted partly in UAE. This time too for the upcoming season assumptions are made that it could take place in either of the two venues.

BCCI on January 2019 has confirmed that the IPL 2019 will completely take place in India and will begin from March 23. The date for the final has not been fixed yet by the BCCI. The upcoming IPL season has to has to fight with the ICC Cricket World Cup which will be held from May 30 to July 14.

According to Justice Lodha committee recommendations, a 15-day gap has to be there between the Indian Premier League and any International fixture. Usually, IPL starts in the first week of April and ends in last week of May. But due to the World Cup in place, this could not be done this time.
