Think about where a train can take you! This time the focus is on the city of Amsterdam, a prime destination of the Thalys. Amsterdam stands as a romantic capital with the particular appeal of a village - with its canals, alleyways, cheese factories and nearby countryside. With its numerous museums, its famous red-light district and distinctive atmosphere, anyone will enjoy a stay in Amsterdam.

From 29 September 2012 to 25 April 2013, Amsterdam will be the culture partner of Thalys. A way to incite people to take the train, buy their train tickets and travel to this amazing city. Art lovers will be delighted to visit the exhibition in The Hermitage Museum to discover the works by Vincent Van Gogh, all picked from its permanent collection. Some 75 paintings, selected letters, objects and works on paper will allow visitors to follow Vincent Van Gogh on a personal quest into the heart of his artistic identity.

The themes that the artist himself identified as central to his development will form the basis of the exhibition "Vincent".

Several important paintings will be included, such as Sunflowers, The Bedroom, Almond blossom, the Potato eaters and the Yellow house, in surprising combinations of early and late works. The artist's most famous paintings will be shown side by side with lesser known works in closely integrated thematic pairings.

Thalys train tickets are available on the Rail Europe website. Take your train ticket or reservation confirmation email with you and show it at the shop of the museum to get a surprise.

Travellers are advised that there will be no Thalys train running between Brussels - Oostende / Bruges / Gent and between Paris -Liege / Namur / Mons / Charleroi until 30 March 2013. For further information, travellers can contact Rail Europe.
