Rapid aging demographics could directly affect social, economic and health outcomes for today’s growing economies. Almost one out of four people will be aged 60 and older, and the number will double by 2050. Also, the number of people aged 80 years and older will quadruple as we continue to live longer than we ever have before. This demographic shift is paving new ways for AI technologies in the daily healthcare management of seniors. Currently, AI can be seen in hospitals assisting medical professionals to detect medical risks; foresee when to provide targeted, life-saving interventions; form treatment plans for patients with rare diseases, deliver precision medicine, among others. Healthcare professionals and caregivers are quickly leveraging AI technologies to treat seniors and help provide a better quality of life.
LiveFreely is a Silicon Valley-based digital health company developing innovative technology to improve the health and well-being of seniors and individuals suffering from chronic illnesses. The company is launching BUDDY, the first-of-its-kind AI and machine learning-driven app aimed at predicting health challenges while providing support and data for seniors and their caregivers with health management needs.
Arthur Jue and Daniel Jue, Co-founders of LiveFreely, are two brothers who took care of their aging father in his final stages of life. The experience and overwhelming amount of information that must be managed when caring for a loved one are what drove the brothers to create this technology.
Meet the Transformational Leaders
Dr. Arthur L. Jue serves as Co-founder & CEO of LiveFreely, Inc. He has an extensive background as a serial entrepreneur, corporate executive, educator, and author. He has provided senior leadership at technology companies such as Oracle and IBM. Arthur has also been a consultant in the health and life science industries to companies such as Danaher and McKesson.
Daniel Jue serves as Co-founder & CTO of LiveFreely, Inc. He has over 20 years of experience in emerging technologies and professional software development in companies such as IBM. As a self-taught programmer, he wrote his first computer game at the age of 8 on a Radio Shack TRS-80 with only 4k of RAM.
“It’s our mission to create an ecosystem where seniors feel safer and can lead more connected, purposeful lives while giving their caretakers enhanced peace of mind. It’s more than a technology, we’re a community” explains Arthur.
Delivering Life-Saving AI-Enabled Health Assistance
According to Daniel Jue, health management can quickly become very complex and expensive; BUDDY offers an affordable, effective solution while promoting independence. BUDDY is a personal health assistant that can actually predict falls before they occur. In addition, it auto-detects medical emergencies such as wandering and irregular health patterns, etc. If a medical emergency is detected, BUDDY alerts emergency services and family members. BUDDY creates a user profile and can detect irregular health patterns through machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Innovation Through Ground-breaking Approaches and Partnerships
LiveFreely used an innovative approach to take AI and machine learning to a different level, where the technology can actually predict falls and alert the user before they happen – this is what differentiates the company from other technologies that are currently available.
LiveFreely is partnering with the largest wearable device companies to offer its app directly as well as national pharmaceutical retail stores to make this technology easily available to everyone.
Feedback Impels Business Value and Recognition
For LiveFreely, what is most notable and continues to drive its passion is when it hears feedback from current users about the impact the technology has had on them or their loved ones. That is why the company created this technology and why it continues to drive forward. LiveFreely wants to improve the lives of seniors and provide peace of mind to their loved ones.
Amazed with LiveFreely’s services, a user said, “Congratulations on your phenomenal design and development of this most useful and needed app. My mom at 95 years old passed away last August in Florida. My sister and her husband were her caretakers for over 20 years. My mom was finally admitted to an assisted living center due to numerous falls. My sister’s biggest fear was monitoring her vitals when she was at work. This app would have been so advantageous to our extended family.
Thanks for using your gift of invention to help the elderly. My sons worry about my wife and me as we get older. I know this is an app they will be very interested in having us use as we become more dependent on their care. A selfless invention to better the aged.” – Joseph B.
Challenges Ahead of Success
There are always unforeseen challenges that happen when one launches a new app or develops new technology, so that has probably been the biggest challenge, the research and development, and snags or unexpected hold-ups that come up. But LiveFreely is driven by its mission so challenges are just mild hurdles for the company and it tackles them head on to keep moving forward.
The Future Ahead
Because BUDDY is technology-based and AI-powered, LiveFreely sees it changing a lot. The world of AI and technology, in general, is changing every day and evolving so the company plans to stay ahead of the curve and continue to innovate products that will help people to ‘live freely’ from all walks of life. LiveFreely plans to build off of this app and continue to develop new technologies and products.
