Environmental book earns Double Kudos for Teacher and California Mom

Los Angeles, CA, (October 8, 2013) – Two prestigious organizations have recognized children’s book author Dawn Wynne with two separate awards for her environmental book, Earth Remembers When. The richly illustrated book demonstrates how man affects nature, and offers guidelines and solutions for children to make an impact on the environment to ensure a cleaner, healthier future.

As a follow up to her first children’s book I Remember When, Earth Remembers When offers beautifully painted landscapes and seascapes that illustrate what the world used to resemble while presenting fold-out pages that show the contrast today.

Created for children ages 6-10, this book starts out with the verse: “I remember when Earth was cherished. No reason to fear its perish. Respected, loved, and conserved. Our Earth’s resources were preserved.” Scenes include sea turtles and seals flocking in tropical oceans, polar bear cubs gazing towards a melting ice cap, elephants and giraffes standing in the shadows of Mount Kilimanjaro as the snow disappears and other memorable images. A search and find feature appeals to the youngest of readers.

Wynne won the Silver Medal for the Readers’ Favorite Book Reviews and Awards Contest based in Hawesville, KY. Readers' Favorite honors a range of books from independent authors and small publishers to publishing giants. Thousands of books from all over the world compete in the annual competition. With a review panel of more than 300 people, Readers’ Favorite has gained the respect of such industry giants as Random House, Penguin, and Harper Collins.

Wynne was also a recipient of a Silver Medal for the 5th Annual Living Now Awards from Independent Publishers. The Living Now Awards are presented by Jenkins Group of Traverse City, Michigan. The group honors books that improve our lives in wholesome, Earth-friendly ways. The award winners were chosen from newly published books in lifestyle categories from cooking and parenting to wellness and spirituality.

Dawn is a blogger for The Huffington Post in the “Huff Post Green” section where she writes about the importance of environmental awareness for our youth. Wynne will be presented her silver medal from Readers’ Favorite at a national ceremony in Miami at the Regency Hotel Miami on November 23, 2013. Books will be on display from November 22-24, 2013 at the Miami Book Fair International.
