BNP Partners Begins Recruitment Drive For ASEAN Offices

BNP Partners says it has instigated a recruitment campaign that will source personnel for its expansion into ASEAN countries.

Shanghai, China-based boutique brokerage and wealth manager, BNP Partners has confirmed it has launched a recruitment drive intended to source personnel for three new offices in the ASEAN region after receiving the green light from financial services regulators in parts of Asia.

The campaign will initially focus on the professional staff with the company seeking equity, fixed income and commodity analysts as well as portfolio managers and client-facing advisers.

Gerald E. Powers, Chief Investment Officer at BNP Partners explained, “With the best will in the world, this is going to be a challenging undertaking. One of the reasons we weren’t happy to expand into ASEAN through the acquisition of existing players was the dearth of what we consider to be suitably qualified personnel that could perform to the high standards we hold ourselves to here at BNP Partners.”

“We expect to be able to find analysts and strategists because several foreign operators like the big name banks have large operations in ASEAN and provide high quality training but less development has been done on the customer-facing advisers because these banks are offering generic services that can’t easily be distinguished from each other,” Powers added.

The campaign will focus on print and online media while the search and selection option is being held in reserve until a clearer picture emerges on candidate availability.

BNP Partners says it hopes to open its first ASEAN satellite office by the second quarter of 2016 with further operations in other parts of Asia going online later in the year.
