FREE ESTATE PLANNING & MEDICAID SEMINAR OFFERED TO LOCAL SENIORS

(HARRISVILLE, MIā€”June 21, 2017) The Elder Law Firm Biddinger, Bitzer, Pelto & Rastigue, PLLC, is presenting a free seminar titled "How NOT to Go Broke in a Nursing Home" in Harrisville and East Tawas on July 17 & 18, 2017. This seminar is open to all area seniors and their family members and will discuss different methods of structuring an estate to avoid losing assets to long-term health care costs.

"We believe that the cost of future long-term care is the single greatest financial threat to your estate," says Kerry Rastigue, an Estate Planning Attorney and Geriatric Social Worker. "Most people don't realize that 70% of people over the age of 65 will need nursing home, assisted living, or home health care in their lifetime. With the average annual cost of $96,216 for a nursing home in Michigan, many families lose everything they worked a lifetime for just paying for long-term care for one family member."

"There are ways to help you protect your assets through pre-planning your estate now, while you are still healthy," states Rachel Pelto, Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorney. "This seminar will introduce you to different estate planning tools that can protect your assets and help you pay for long-term care, if you need it."

Estate Planning and Medicaid Planning are best completed while both spouses are healthy, because more of your assets can be protected. For this reason, anyone is welcome to attend this free seminar to learn more. If your family already has someone in long-term care, this seminar will help you understand ways to expedite the Medicaid application process.

There are two sessions to choose from: Tuesday, July 18 at the East Tawas Community Center, or Wednesday, July 19 at the Harrisville Branch of the Alcona County Library. Each session starts at 11 a.m., and refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited, and pre-registration is required, so RSVP early to (989) 872-5601 or you can register online at www.biddingerandbitzer.com.
