eXwavia, the Welsh rural broadband provider, have been approved by DCMS to bring superfast broadband out of the countryside and into the City, using the Connections Voucher Scheme.

Welshpool, Powys, UK, August 10, 2013 -- The Government's Connections Vouchers scheme (www.connectionvouchers.co.uk) is running a trial period between August and September for

Belfast
Cardiff
Edinburgh
Manchester
Salford

in an effort by DCMS to:
"to stimulate the market to go further and at a faster pace than it would otherwise have done"

A total of 27 companies so far have registered as approved suppliers under the scheme.

"I'm delighted to add our name to the list of approved suppliers" said eXwavia MD, Annette Burgess, "and it goes to prove that there are many suppliers around the UK who offer a sound, viable alternative to delivering superfast speeds - regardless of location"

eXwavia have steadily been building there subscriber base in the countryside of Wales, and already have customers near Cardiff (including Cardiff Blues Rugby Club), and have viewed the Connection Vouchers scheme as a useful awareness raiser for getting businesses connected right now rather than waiting until the end of 2016.

"Anything that encourages our businesses to take advantage of the benefits of superfast connectivity can only be a good thing," Burgess added, "there is distinct business advantage to great broadband speeds and we are pleased to be part of enabling that."

With subscribers as far North as Anglesey, and in and around Cardiff, and with speeds from 4Mbps to 100Mbps+, eXwavia are establishing themselves as the default alternative to more traditional suppliers in Wales. By utilising fibre backbones, together with mircrowave and wifi technologies, location is much less of a hindrance to those seeking to enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband.

The Press interest in the scheme has already resulted in a number of calls to eXwavia from businesses in Cardiff seeking to capitalise on the ability to significantly reduce the cost to install superfast broadband. It is anticipated that the scheme payment to subsidise installation, will result in a number of businesses getting connected that previously may have decided not to.
