This is exactly what happened to Michel Bitar, a Security Guard from Asset Group Solutions. Bitar was nominated late last year for the St Johns Save a Life Award. He is recognised for attending to and applying first aid procedures to a man while on duty. His quick response and skills in performing the right procedures helped in keeping the man safe until medical help came.

Since 2010, the Australian Security Medals Foundation Inc has given recognition to outstanding individuals who have exceeded expectations in security services in Sydney, Australia. They also aim to broaden the perception of the industry to the greater community. The ASMF has acknowledged the exceptional deeds of many security guards in Sydney when it comes to fast action and the application of first aid.

Together with St John Ambulance Australia, a self-funded, charity organisation, the Save a Life Award was created. St Johns Save a Life Award is a recognition given to someone who has proven themselves in their work in the face of emergencies. With St John being the largest first aid training provider in Australia, it only makes sense that they award those who showcase their excellent critical thinking and application of first aid.

Because security personnel don’t always get the recognition they deserve, this award is a way to honour them for their service and their readiness to take action for anything that may happen while on duty. This award recognises the security officers who are always on the frontline, keeping people safe and protected.
