Even if the last months have been challenging for the travel industry and tour operators, Arigato Travel has continued being creative and resilient!


Arigato Travel's team was the first to offer Online Experiences with local hosts in Japan in 2020. They invested in this as a reaction to the circumstances but from the start, they felt this is a new way to travel and a great way to connect with future travelers. They are now offering 7 different online experiences including limited-edition ones for Christmas, Cherry Blossoms, and Summer seasons. As a result, they received great feedback from guests but also have been featured in BBC Travel Show and Forbes magazine as one of The World’s Best Virtual Tours.

They also used this opportunity to build a community of guides across Japan and help them to stay strong and motivated despite the situation. They have trained more than 500 guides through various programs and projects and they have been offering recurrent online training sessions through webinars on different topics.

Last but not least, they also used this period with no inbound tourists to work on new collaborations with other prefectures and cities to offer more authentic and unforgettable experiences to their future guests! They have built an amazing relationship with the Shizuoka area and have now more local "in-person" experiences available in the Mt. Fuji area. Partnerships are launching in Nagoya, Shiga, Shikoku and Tohoku regions!
