The most important aspect while printing of the 3D model image is the checking out and confirmation of the resolution power of the printer. Basically the resolution of printer is described by the thickness of each layer which is subsequently added to the model until it finally achieves its final state. The resolution is either measured in dots per inch also called as dpi or in micrometers or µm. These factors are considered in both the FDM filament as well as in the PLA filament printing methods. Some printing machines have really fine resolution power and there printing efficiency can be as much as 1600 dpi or 16 µm while the typical resolution power resulting in the layer thickness of a general 3D printer is about 100 µm. As far as the X-Y resolution of the 3D printers is concerned, it can be compared with that of the laser printers. The sizes of 3D dots which appear in the form of particles are about 50 to 100 µm in diameter which makes about 510 to 250 in dpi units.

It may take from several hours to several days in order to construct the 3D model according to contemporary methods of 3D printing. This all depends upon the kind of method used and the size of model and whether it is complex or a simple one. In the additive method of 3Dprinting, a lot of time can be saved. But still it depends on the kinds of machines and complexity of model.

Traditionally it has been observed that the technique of injection molding in 3D filament printing does not cost much especially if huge quantity products are required. On the other hand the additive method of printing may cost a little bit more but it saves a lot of time and flexible especially if models in small quantities are required.
Finishing of 3D model
In this procedure the finely obtained model which we get as a result of printing can be further pruned or purified which results in the fine and precisely made model. Usually the experts prefer to print slightly large model than required and then the layers are removed by using the subtractive process thereby giving a precise model. This is possible if enough of the 3D Printing Material is provided.
