Cork, Ireland (20 March 2015) – Padraig O’Connor has been appointed as the Public Relations Officer of the UCC Commerce Society at University College Cork. Elected by his peers, the Commerce student will be responsible for the promotion of the UCC Commerce Society to students, the community at large and the media.

“The Commerce Society is one of the most popular societies in UCC and its tremendous success over the years is downto the work of past committees,” said O’Connor. “I am delighted to continue their great work and I look forward to marketing the society to the students of UCC and the wider community.”

O’Connor has been a member of the society for two years prior to his year abroad in the U.S. and worked on the UCC 31st and 32nd Annual Business Conference. The Commerce Society is one of the college’s largest and best-knownsocieties, conducting a variety of business events throughout the year.

One ofthe Commerce Society’s most notableevents is the UCC Annual Business Commerce Conference that brings together top names in the business world to address students, lecturers and the wider community on a variety of current business topics. It’s one of Ireland’s foremost business conferences, addressing global and local commerce, marketing and business practices.

The group also held its first Marketing Conference this week, with top marketing experts speaking on “Achieving Success in the Marketing World.” They also hold a renowned “Commerce Week” each year in UCC, this year the event was so successful it received the “Best Week Long Event” award at the UCC STARS awards.

O’Connor is once again looking forward to working with the other elected members of the UCC 2015/2016 Commerce Society for another year and he plans tocreate a very successful marketing and public relations programme for the society.
