Benefits of Weight Lifting For Women and Why Setting Up a Gym at Home is the Way to Go

The benefits of weight lifting for women are so far reaching and as a doctor of chiropractic and a certified wellness coach I have gotten to see first hand why weight training is so vital to a woman's overall health and sense of self-worth.

This article shares some of the top benefits of weight lifting for woman and I will also share why I feel setting yourself up with a low-cost yet highly sophisticated home gym will keep you motivated and save you money.

First lets look at some benefits specific to women and we will start with weight loss and metabolism. Your metabolism is run by your muscles. Did you ever wonder why men can eat more than women? It is because they naturally have more muscle and so can naturally metabolize more food.

As women age muscle mass decreases IF the woman does not work the muscles against resistance, i.e. lift weights. This becomes a significant player in weight loss because every pound of muscle burns 50 calories per day. If a woman loses 5 pounds of muscle over a decade that means she has to eat 250 calories less every day just to maintain her body weight.

The moral of the story is start taking a new look at weight lifting. It is not something to be afraid of and you don't have to worry about bulking up because your body doesn't have the testosterone levels to allow that to happen but weight

Other benefits include, reduced risk of heart problems, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, prevention of osteoporosis, reduced cellulite (the muscle underneath is what smooths the bumpy fat), fewer menopausal symptoms, and on and on.

Really the list of benefits are enormous but I know, you might still have reservations about picking up a weight. I am asking you to drop your barriers because it is so important to preserve or even add to your muscle mass.

I find most of my female clients stick with weight training much better when they have a good quality home system set up and this is made simple with the right equipment.

One mistake I find women make with working out with weights is to use weights that are too light. This is why I recommend having access to a variety of dumbbells. Dumbbells range in size from 5 to 50 pounds and beyond so you can be constantly improving your workout and this prevents boredom and stalled results.

Of course getting a full set of dumbbells is not very practical. You really want to have sets of dumbbells that increase gradually. I recommend you get a set that increases by 2.5 pound increments for the lower weights and if you were to go out to the store to buy all of these weights separately you would have a mess.

So to get all of the benefits of weight training in a convenient way I always recommend the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells. Bowflex is a trusted name in home gym equipment and this innovative dumbbell set is like having 15 different dumbbells in 1. Because of their design you can adjust the weight from 5 all the way up to 52.5 pounds. They take up only a few feet of space and they will be all you need for years and decades to come.

I feel strongly about the benefits of weight lifting for women and strongly encourage you to set up a simple home gym and begin working 3 days a week. All you need is a set of adjustable dumbbells like the Bowflex SelectTech 552 series and you will never look back

Working out at home makes sense.

As a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Certified Wellness Coach I find the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells to be the smartest investment for my clients.
