Wiltshire Bacon Co. Offers a Sweet Tasting Remedy to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

What is less apparent is the bigger victory every delicious bite is winning in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Looking at the testimonials on Wiltshire Bacon Co. one word stands out: delicious.
“I have just finished my supper with your Pork and Stilton Sausage and found it so delicious...”
“...we enjoyed the best rashers of bacon for supper today that we have had for a very very long time...”
Apparently, when you take a bite of their flavour-filled pork, your tastes buds go into food heaven.
What is less apparent is the bigger victory every delicious bite is winning in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

What Does AMR Have to Do with Pork?

Organic certification body Soil Association carried out a study on UK supermarket meat and found 51 percent of the E. coli on pork was resistant to the antibiotic trimethoprim. And a further 19% was resistant to the antibiotic gentamicin.
Both trimethoprim and gentamicin are used to treat upper urinary-tract infections.
The tested pork typically comes from pigs intensively reared in high numbers within confined indoor spaces. Diseases easily spread in such cramped spaces, so the pigs end up requiring substantial doses of antibiotics just to stay healthy.
When you eat such pork, you also introduce those antibiotic-resistant bacteria into your body.
That contributed to the 25-year increase in the number of E. coli blood-poisoning infections, which reached a record 45,666 in 2015.
It’s certainly even more concerning that scientists haven’t discovered any new antibiotics to treat E. coli for 35 years.

How Wiltshire Bacon Co. is Tantalising Customers’ Taste Buds into Good Health

The Wiltshire Bacon Co. is much like an entrepreneurial crusader in the fight against AMR.
In fact, they are entrepreneurial activists, but instead of going out into the streets calling for reform and asking you to change your eating habits, they tantalize your taste buds into good health.
They get their customers hooked onto their incredibly delicious gammon hock, joints, and steaks.
Here, delicious isn’t just a relative term.
These are award-winning meats. They won gold for their Dry Cured Rindless Back and Naturally Smoked Rindless Back – exquisitely smoked over oak chips – besides other awards.
And if you don’t know how to cook it, they have a whole collection of mouth-watering recipes to make it just the way an executive chef would.
Soon enough you’re addicted to outdoor-reared 100% British Bacon (the type of bacon that’s not antibiotic laden).
And that’s a good thing.
After a while, you start realizing, “Huh! I’m actually healthier now than I was before.”
You’re no longer getting endless infections, simple health issues get treated easily and, most of all, you’re not spending so much on medication.
To top it all, Wiltshire Bacon Co. makes it all so convenient with free delivery all over the UK for orders above £50.
Clearly, they understand reward psychology as Pavlov revealed in his experiments: it’s certainly far more effective to get people to do the right thing by giving them a sweet treat, than by telling them to stop eating unhealthy.
Of course, we shouldn’t have to be told to do something that’s good for us anyway.
